Chavy Built a Career by Simply Being Himself

For Chavy, content creation was never really supposed to become a career.

The 32-year-old creator from Antigua & Barbuda describes what he makes as a little bit of everything—a private journal that just happens to be very public. His experiences, personality, travels, humor, and everyday life all find their way into what he shares online.

He didn't initially realize that sharing those moments could become an actual profession. He simply enjoyed documenting his experiences honestly, and somewhere along the way, people began connecting with them.

As Chavy puts it:

“I always had a love for sharing my experiences in its most authentic, unapologetic and raw form, and somehow it resonated with others and became now the only thing I do for a living.”

But being that open didn't always come naturally.

Growing up, Chavy often felt there were parts of himself he needed to filter out for fear of judgment. He also describes taking longer than others to fully understand himself. Today, he's reached a place where he feels far more confident embracing the entire journey—the good and the bad.

His personality has become part of the appeal too. When asked what makes his content different, Chavy had a characteristically unserious answer:

“I think how chaotic my brain works tbh. I love a challenge and thinking outside the box. Also I’m a very unserious person so there’s that haha.”

Behind the humor, though, is an understanding of why showing up authentically can matter. For Chavy, even connecting with one person who sees something familiar in his experiences can make sharing them worthwhile.

“Even if it resonates with one person alone, I’m happy. Being able to see someone that feels like yourself can be very healing and enlightening, no one wants to feel alone.”

A Personal Journal That Became a Business

Today, that very public journal is also Chavy's full-time career.

It has brought opportunities with major brands and companies, including Rihanna's Fenty Skin and HBO Max Caribbean, while also allowing him to travel to different countries and share his perspective on carnivals and festivals.

When FAMA asked whether content had created paid opportunities for him, the answer was an enthusiastic yes:

“I’ve been blessed to work with companies such as Rihanna’s Fenty Skin to HBO Max Caribbean! I’ve also been blessed enough to travel across so many countries to showcase my POV of the authentic carnival experience/festivals.”

And the opportunities haven't only been commercial. Chavy is equally appreciative of the people the journey has brought into his life, both virtually and in person, describing those connections simply as “unmatched.”

It's a significant evolution for something that never started with a business plan. By sharing his life and perspective, Chavy has turned something he naturally enjoyed doing into his full-time career, one that has brought major brand partnerships, travel, new experiences and new connections along the way.

Right Now, Success Looks Different

Despite everything content creation has brought him, Chavy's biggest priority right now isn't another brand partnership, destination, or audience milestone.

It's his mental health.

The past few years have included challenges he's navigated both publicly and privately. After spending three years away from social media, Chavy returned this year and, within days, lost his father.

He describes trying to navigate the emptiness of that loss while still allowing himself to enjoy life, all while privately healing from other experiences as well.

Through it all, his focus isn't on reaching some version of perfection, but on becoming better each day.

“I’m not striving for perfection, just striving to be better everyday. I can’t be a better human to the ones I love if I’m not better to myself.”

It's a particularly personal goal for someone whose career has been built around sharing life as it actually happens. Right now, that includes acknowledging the difficult parts and giving himself room to work through them.

His hope for this chapter is simple:

“So hopefully as I go along this new journey, I can find myself being…. Better.”

A Creator Who Inspires Him

When asked which Caribbean creator inspires him, Chavy admitted that narrowing the list to one wasn't easy. He believes there are too many great creators across the region to choose from easily.

But one person immediately came to mind: Marissa Charles, popularly known as Global Carnivalist, or “Globey,” one of his mentors and one of the first creators he remembers meeting in the space, around 2018.

What has stayed with him isn't simply her content or success. It's the way she has built it.

“My favorite thing about her is how true she is to herself. Everything she does is authentic to her and it’s not forced or rushed either, it’s at her own pace.”

Chavy also admires the balance she has created in her life, something he says he aspires to find for himself.

There is something fitting about that influence. Chavy's own career grew when the parts of himself he once thought needed filtering became the very things people connected with. Now, as he thinks about the life he wants beyond the numbers and opportunities, he looks up to someone who has built her platform authentically, at her own pace, while maintaining a sense of balance.

Chavy may describe his platform as a private journal made public, but it has already become much more than that: his full-time career, a source of new experiences, and an opportunity to connect with people around the world.
