From Black River, Jamaica to Sold-Out Shows: Meet White Yardie

Harry Gregory, better known as White Yardie, is a Jamaican stand-up comedian, actor, and social media personality whose relatable storytelling has made him one of the Caribbean's most recognizable comedy creators.

Raised in Black River, St. Elizabeth, he chose a stage name that reflects his identity as a white Jamaican, with "Yardie" being a term commonly associated with Jamaicans. Through observational comedy about Jamaican family life, immigration, parenting, relationships, and cultural differences, White Yardie has built an audience of millions across social media before successfully transitioning to sold-out live stand-up shows.

How it all started

Long before Instagram Reels took over, White Yardie was creating videos on an app called Keek around 14–15 years ago. Keek was a Canadian short-form video app that launched in 2011 and became popular before platforms like Vine and TikTok.

Looking back on those early days, Harry says he simply wanted to share the experiences that shaped his everyday life.

"I started doing videos on Keek, just talking about my experiences in life and day-to-day things."

Those relatable stories resonated with audiences and laid the foundation for the career he has today.

Using his platform for good

For White Yardie, one of the proudest moments of his journey hasn't been a viral video or a packed theatre. Instead, it's the positive impact he's been able to make through his audience.

As he explains, one of his greatest achievements has been:

"Being able to use my platform in positive ways to raise awareness and over £50,000 for various Caribbean islands."

It's a reminder that influence can extend well beyond entertainment.

Looking ahead

Despite years of success, White Yardie isn't focused on slowing down. Instead, he's determined to keep evolving while staying connected with the audience that has supported him throughout his journey.

His goal, he says, is simple:

"At the moment my goal is to continue to remain relevant and produce great content for the audience."

From sharing everyday stories on Keek to performing sold-out comedy shows, White Yardie has built a career by finding humour in everyday life, and judging by his goals, he's not slowing down anytime soon.
